Most WVDELI WMA Audiobooks are now iPod®-compatible!

New Wheeling Room Is Open!

New Wheeling Room
The Grand Opening of OCPL’s new and long-awaited Wheeling Room was June 24. It is now open to the public during all regular library hours.
The room is on the main floor of the library, with about 25% more shelf space, much more seating and study space, improved lighting, better access to microfilm resources and more.
The room contains the library’s local history and genealogy collection of some 4000 items, the local history vertical file, and the Brown Collection of large scale photographs from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

VITA Site is #4 Nationally

The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) site hosted by Ohio County Public Library is the 4th largest VITA site in the nation in 2009. It is also the 14th largest of all IRS-sponsored sites in the country including AARP and military sites.

The volunteers prepared 4,167 tax returns between mid-January and April 15.

Over 400 downloadable video titles are now through WVDELI.

There are documentaries about Chartres Cathedral, Herbie Hancock, Area 51, the B-17 and more. A random sampling of the feature films include Satanic Rites of Dracula with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, Man with the Golden Arm starring Frank Sinatra, and Frank Capra’s Meet John Doe. Short subjects star Betty Boop, Popeye, W.C. Fields and the Three Stooges.

Titles will be added all the time, so keep checking back. Check the OCPL on-line catalog or the WVDELI site.

If you have a specific title you’d like to see added to the collection, please contact the library and we’ll do our best.

WVDELI is a consortium of Ohio County Public Library, Marion County Public Library, Morgantown Public Library, Bridgeport Public Library, Fairmont State University and Glenville State College. Mary H. Weir Public Library and Kanawha County Public Library will join the group this summer.
